About the Winery Music Awards

One of the Central Coast's most successful music events ever among local artists will be returning in 2007. Held on the grounds of select Paso Robles wineries, the Winery Music Awards competition showcases the best original, unsigned music artists in California and beyond with a backdrop of grapevines, stacks of wine barrels and the smell of fermenting wine in the air. The artists compete for significant prizes contributed by a variety of sponsor companies within and outside the music industry. A panel of notable judges influential in the music, entertainment and wine industries votes its choices for best artists of the competition. Artists are judged in the categories of originality, musicianship and, most importantly, marketability to the wine-consuming market. The competition is open to the music genres of: jazz, rock, blues, new age, acoustic, country, folk, soft rock, reggae' and adult contemporary.

The lineup of judges for the day was very impressive and showed me how important this event is, and the entertainment

industry supports what producer Kathy Kelly and her production team are doing. With the support of these movers

and shakers in the entertainment and wine business, I think underlines the need and importance of this musical event

here in cowboy wine country...we encourage Paso Robles to support this important music element.  I was part of the

Austin, Santa Fe, Boulder, Aspen and Hollywild music scenes and I feel something brewing in these grape covered hills of

Central California...eeeeeeehaw...interesting thing brewing with music at the wineries and the vineyards vs the bars...

Go to the Winery Music Awards website at the bottom of the page and see more about the judges...and next shows.

eeeeehaw I met Ruth McCartney, yup Paul's sister was there as a judge...

Kimberly Jean with her own brand of country rock closed the show with some kickass music...see her on our feature

myspace artist page and hear some of her music and hot voice that is going to take this girl down the music road fer sure...

Kerri Dopart got my vote...some songs worthy of being recorded by the biggest names in the business when this girl

and her incredible songs are discovered, she gave me a copy of her CD and just love it, such a sweet voice, and

hot little band she brought to back her up...Kerri is now a featured artist at the StudioClub.com

Debra Arlyn and her hot band came down from Oregon to perform and this girl could handle

any stage from a small bar to a concert hall with her own brand of pop music and her rock n' roll feel

Wow and wow, talent and beauty, with humor and grace...she gave me Austin, Texas blues flashbacks of

Marsh Ball, and Lou Ann Barton, and Shannon Curtis took the win at the first Winery Music Awards elimination.

Rocky Gaines...sorry I must have been in the wine tasting room when you were on...gettin' sideways

Friday nights open mic at Stacked Stone Winery, where the July 14 Winery

Music Awards will be held...support the wine and the music...we are lucky

to live here and be part of something brewing in cowboy wine country...
