Conjuring the spirit of the West, in both good times and hard times, Ryan Bingham is a promising new songwriter that is making large strides in his musical journey.
With a life that brought lessons early on, the stories that result in Bingham's songs reveal wisdom beyond his years.
Bingham was born in New Mexico and was raised in West Texas where he grew up on "the rolling highway blues", forging a gypsy like path doing everything from working in oil fields to riding in the rodeo circuit. Somewhere along the way he picked up a guitar and has been displaying his growing musical talents ever since.
A perfect dose of cowboy charm, some have said he is reminiscent of a young Townes Van Zandt. He's versed himself in many styles, ranging from mariachi and zydeco, to western swing and the blues.
Drawing on influences that range from The Allman Brothers and Red Steagall to The Rolling Stones and Bob Marley, the result is a sonic mix that has produced increased interest in his talent, from industry peers, and fans alike. He has shared bills with the likes of Chris LeDoux, Billy Joe Shaver, Gary P. Nunn, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Marc Ford and other prominent artists.
Bingham’s debut record, Lost Bound Rails, revealed a vivid world of imagery in his lyrics combined with a unique and genuine flair. It was a kind introduction to an impressive new developing act.
His second record, Wishbone Saloon, earned him even more praise as Bingham continued to brandish his talent across the US, even making his way to Europe where he performed in a Western Show at Euro Disney.
Dead Horses, his latest recording, Ryan was privileged to work with former members of The Flying Burrito Brothers (who supported the late great songwriting legend Gram Parsons) and Grammy-winning producer Carlton Moody.
Recently, Ryan has gone in the studio with Marc Ford (The Black Crowes, Ben Harper) who produced, remixed as well as played guitar, on “Dead Horses”, to bring a raw, stripped down version to his songs.
And Stitch’s, denim jeans “fused with equal parts Rock ‘n Roll and Americana”, has just release a promotional five song CD of Ryan’s music.
